Broad Green Library Begins New Chapter with Asian Resource Centre of Croydon

We are excited to share some fantastic news about the future of Broad Green Library.

On Wednesday 14th May 2025 at the Annual Council Meeting, The Executive Mayor of Croydon, Jason Perry, announced that the Asian Resource Centre of Croydon (ARCC) has been confirmed as the successful organisation to take on the long-term lease of Broad Green Library. This is a major step toward securing the future of the library as a vibrant, inclusive and community-led space.

ARCC, a respected local infrastructure charity with over two decades of experience supporting Croydon’s diverse communities, will lead the transformation of Broad Green Library into a dynamic hub offering flexible, welcoming space for learning, wellbeing, and cultural exchange.

Jay Patel, Chair of ARCC, said: "We see Broad Green Library as more than just a building — it’s a place where community comes to life. We're looking forward to working closely with residents, partners and volunteers to make this a truly shared space for everyone."

Ima Miah, CEO of ARCC, added: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to revitalise Broad Green Library. Our vision is to create an inclusive and accessible community space that reflects the needs and aspirations of the local population, where people of all ages and backgrounds feel welcomed, supported and inspired."

Our vision is to deliver a wide range of services and activities that meet the real needs of the local community. Some of our plans include:

  • Education & Learning

  • Health & Wellbeing

  • Cultural & Social Events

  • Celebrations & cultural exchange events

  • Outreach & Library Services

  • Community & Enterprise Support

ARCC’s approach emphasises flexibility, inclusivity and sustainability, ensuring that Broad Green Library remains a valuable resource for years to come by improving the building’s accessibility, being environmentally responsible and making sure we reflect the needs of disabled residents, families, young people, elders and underserved communities.

As we move forward, we are eager to hear from local residents and partners. Your feedback is vital in shaping the future of the Community space. Please take a moment to complete our short survey by click HERE
